Overview
Ares Chat is designed from the ground up to collect as little information as possible. This policy explains what we do and do not collect.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Name, email address, or phone number
- Profile photos or personal bios
- Contacts or address book
- Location data
- Message content
- File content
- Voice call audio, recordings, or transcripts
- Apple ID, advertising ID, vendor ID, serial number, or hardware identifier
Information We Process to Operate the Service
- Device Identifier Hash: A pseudonymous cryptographic identifier derived from a random seed generated on your device. It is not linked to a person, device hardware ID, or Apple account.
- Device Public Keys: Public keys used for device authentication and encrypted key delivery. Private keys remain on your device.
- Encrypted Message Payloads: Messages are stored only in encrypted form for relay and delivery.
- Encrypted File Metadata and Objects: Files and file metadata are encrypted before upload. Original file names, original extensions, exact MIME type, and media category are not stored in plaintext.
- Delivery and Cleanup Status: Acknowledgement, delivery, and expiration status used to remove relay data from the server.
- Payment Metadata: Transaction metadata from Apple In-App Purchase, PayPal, or RedotPay. We do not store credit card numbers or full payment details.
- Push Notification Tokens: Tokens used only to deliver generic new-message signals. Push notifications do not contain message content, file names, channel names, or call content.
How We Use Information
- To route encrypted messages between devices
- To verify purchases and provision secure channels
- To send generic push notification signals
- To track voice call entitlement and billing metadata
- To process explicit user-submitted report packages
Data Retention
Encrypted messages and encrypted file objects are cleaned up from our servers after delivery acknowledgement or expiration. Local encrypted cache may remain on recipient devices to preserve chat history.
Third-Party Services
- Apple In-App Purchase: Subject to Apple policies.
- PayPal: Subject to PayPal policies.
- RedotPay: Subject to RedotPay policies.
- Cloudflare: Used for infrastructure and object storage.
- Render: Used for API hosting.
Children's Privacy
Ares Chat is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
